To establish Dien Bien Phu city of Lai Chau province on the basis of the whole land area and population as well as all dependent administrative units of Dien Bien Phu provincial capital.

To adjust the administrative boundaries for the expansion of Dien Bien Phu city as follows:

To transfer the whole land area of 356.25 ha and the population of 8,520 of Muong Thanh township of Dien Bien district for the establishment of Nam Thanh ward under Dien Bien Phu city’s management.

To adjust a land area of 281 ha and a population of 3,147 of Thanh Luong commune; and a land area of 251 ha and a population of 2,627 of Thanh Nua commune, Dien Bien district, for the establishment of Thanh Truong ward under Dien Bien Phu city’s management.

To establish Noong Bua ward on the basis of the whole land area of 1,800 ha and the population of 5,200 of Noong Bua commune.

After the adjustment of administrative boundaries, Dien Bien Phu city shall have a land area of 6,009.05 ha and a population of 70,639 with 8 dependent administrative units, including 7 wards and one commune.

This Decree takes effect 15 days after its publication in the Official Gazette. All previous regulations contrary to this Decree are hereby annulled.- (Summary)
